The Divine Transformation

Devotion 1 for Transfiguration Sunday Sermon

Devotional:
Have you ever watched a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis? It’s a stunning display of transformation that mirrors one of the most remarkable moments in Jesus’ earthly ministry. Just as a caterpillar undergoes a complete metamorphosis to become something entirely new and beautiful, Jesus revealed His divine glory to His closest disciples in an extraordinary way. This transformation wasn’t just for show – it was a pivotal moment that would strengthen His disciples’ faith for the challenging journey ahead. When we face our own difficult times, remembering who Jesus truly is can give us the courage to persevere.

Verse:
Now about eight days after these sayings he took with him Peter and John and James and went up on the mountain to pray. And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became dazzling white. – Luke 9:28-29

Question:
When was the last time you experienced a moment that transformed your understanding of who Jesus is in your life?

Quote:
Today he’s changed from the inside out. A metamorphosis or a transfiguration is best described in today’s world as a caterpillar into a butterfly.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me to see You in Your full glory today. Transform my understanding of who You are and deepen my faith in Your divine nature. Amen.
