Coming to Our Senses

Devotional

Sometimes it takes hitting rock bottom to realize where we truly belong. The prodigal son had to reach his lowest point – envying the food of pigs – before he ‘came to himself.’ This moment of clarity wasn’t just about physical hunger; it was a spiritual awakening. Often, our own moments of desperation can become turning points that lead us back to God. These moments, though painful, can be gifts that reveal our need for our heavenly Father.

Bible Verse

‘When he came to himself, he said, “how many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread? But I perish here with hunger. I will arise and I will go to my Father, and I will say to him, father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.”‘ – Luke 15:17-18

Reflection Question

What circumstances in your life have helped you recognize your need for God?

Quote

And God says, realize how destitute you are. And then in our sadness, in our depression, in the deepest, darkest woes, we have come crawling back and said, ‘I don’t deserve this, Lord.’

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the moments that bring me to my senses and turn my heart toward home. Help me to see Your hand even in difficult times, drawing me back to You. Amen.
